TOP 5 STAYCATIONS IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

It’s the middle of winter in Australia and a holiday to sunnier locations seems a little out of reach at the moment. Whether it is the time off work or deciding which international beach destination to visit, have you considered staying in Sydney and having a staycation?

A staycation is the perfect way to spend the weekend with your partner or BFF, escape your day to day life and pretend you’re on holiday while lapping it up in luxury.
Here’s our top 5 staycation locations in and around Sydney you should put on your wishlist:

Intercontinental Double Bay

Newly opened just last year, this is a beautiful hotel with a stunning white pool deck (Instagram photos!), luxurious interiors and comfortable beds. Just 4 minutes walk from the local ferry, you can take photos of your entire journey to the hotel, including your walk into the marble lobby. Photo opportunities aside, the Intercontinental Double Bay is an excuse to escape into the world of inner east where some of Sydney’s rich sip on $5 coffees and drive around in their luxury cars. Perfect for a luxury escape that doesn’t put you into the hustle and bustle of the Sydney CBD.

Park Hyatt Sydney

Want to stay somewhere where the celebrities and royalty stay when they’re in town? Well look no further than the lush Park Hyatt. Situated right on Sydney Harbour, there is no hotel with up close and personal views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House like this one. The rooms feature floor to ceiling windows to get the best views in town with some rooms featuring the added luxury of a balcony. Did we mention you can relax by having a soak in your in-room marble bathtub, getting some sun by the rooftop pool or reaching bliss with a massage at the spa? After you’ve relaxed, you can enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant or be within a short walk from some of Sydney’s fanciest restaurants.

QT Sydney and QT Bondi

For a hotel that is luxurious with a side of character, look no further than the QT Hotels. Each QT hotel has their own sense of style based on their location, so if you’re looking for something that has a theatrical character with a masculine touch, try the QT Sydney. Situated next to the State Theatre, the hotel and rooms ooze old school sex appeal with modern touches. We love the suites with the original Gowings building wood-paneled walls and the beautiful freestanding bathtubs (which aren’t in every room, so ask reception when checking in for a room with one). The hotel also is home to a great bar and grill as well as a fantastic day spa and mens' grooming parlor.

For something a little more relaxed, the QT Bondi oozes a perfect modern beach house décor and chic stylings, with a touch of Aussie chic. Walking distance from Bondi Beach, you can enjoy a surf lesson on the beach and then relax in your room afterwards before freshening up for evening drinks and dinner in Bondi. A perfect staycation destination.

Halcyon House

Technically we’re not in Sydney anymore, but we couldn’t not put one of the hottest boutique hotels in Australia on the list. Situated at Cabarita Beach (near the Queensland and NSW border), Halcyon House has been recently frequented by the fashion pack for a Veuve Clicquot event that spanned several days. Why? Because it the hotel is like the perfect Hamptons Beach getaway, but in Australia. The hotel has individually designed, colourful rooms and suites with fabric walls and antique furnishes that also have private courtyards or balconies and bathrooms with marble vanities. Throw in a day spa and two delicious restaurants – I don’t know why you would go anywhere else.

Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley

I know we just said that you shouldn’t go anywhere else besides Halcyon House, but if you don’t want to go north of Sydney, you can always go west. As far west as the Blue Mountains to the epically grand and luxurious Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley resort. This luxury resort rivals that of many international resorts, but it’s difference is that it is set on a 2,800-hectare conservation and wildlife reserve within the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area and boasts mountain views instead of ocean views. Which is great if you love getting back to nature – did we mention you can go on horse rides? Wolgan Valley features free-standing suites that each have their own private pool, verandas, living rooms with sandstone fireplaces and custom-crafted furnishings. How lovely does curling up with a glass of wine by the fire place with your special someone on a cold winters night sound?
